Guest #8, your order is ready.

Overall Rating: 9.25/10

To start, not only is eight my favorite number but this is the 50th number meaning I have officially passed the half way mark to the goal! It's been one year, two months and 11 days since this all started. Which means I am averaging a new number once every 8.7 or so days. Otherwise known as "slow". Now on to the review...

Burger - This was a very good burger. Once again I could taste some of the mustard. The tomato was good as was the lettuce. The bun wasn't overly toasted, the burger wasn't over done. Really the only think I could say negative is that the lettuce was piled on directly in the center, making some rearrangement necessary to spread it out. And I'm not sure why this ended up happening, but I probably had a few good bites left but no meat to go with the rest of the ingredients.

Taste - 1.95 (out of 2)
Texture - 2 (out of 2)
Presentation - .9 (out of 1)

Fries - Cooked better than they have been recently and the initial flavor was pretty good. I only ended up putting a small amount of salt and pepper on them. Some of the better fries I've had recently. Texture wise there was a few soggy ones, but taken as a whole it was a good day for the fries.

Taste - 1.7 (out of 2)
Texture - 1.7 (out of 2)

Diet Coke - 1 (out of 1)

So wow, the best score since the start of the In-N-Out Burger scale. Last time I was saying how we could come close to breaking the 8 point mark and here we go a bit over 9! It really was a quality meal. Only interesting thing was some guy from New York came outside to ask some other customer what kind of dog she had. She asked if he was from Boston...I wonder if that's insulting to a New Yorker.

Guest #40, your order is ready.

Overall Rating: 7.8/10

Apologies for the tardiness of this review (the meal was two days ago). Also, I'd like to preface the review by saying the most exciting thing to happen was the fact that I nearly ripped my receipt in half when I got home. I try not to crumple the receipts but all I really do is put them in my back pocket so I guess it was bound to happen sometime.

Burger - I have to say this was one of the best burgers I have had in recent times. Though there were issues, they were relatively minor in the grand scheme of things. For instance, the tomato wasn't ripe and the center of it was fairly hard. Also, as you might be able to see by the picture, the lettuce wasn't that great either as it had a large hard white part. Oddly enough though this didn't seem to affect the texture too much. However, flavor wise this burger was great. I tasted the mustard grilled for only the second time since I've been getting it and I really think it adds to the burger.

Taste - 1.9 (out of 2)
Texture - 1.5 (out of 2)
Presentation - .8 (out of 1)

Fries - Cooked better this time than the last few times. They weren't very crisp but at least they weren't soggy and flimsy. Nor were they dry. A bit crispier and they might have been near perfect texture wise. Flavor wise they needed some salt and pepper but not bad overall.

Taste - 1.5 (out of 2)
Texture - 1.6 (out of 2)

Diet Coke - .5 (out of 1)
Was one of the rare times the syrup/water ratio was out of balance.

Oh man, if the Diet Coke tasted like normal this would have been an over 8 on the In-N-Out scale. Maybe next time.

Another new number so soon. We're coming up on 50, otherwise known as the halfway point.

Burger - The burger was pretty good this time around, but nothing about it really shouted out "hey this is delicious". It was technically sound with minor faults. All the ingredients were placed on the burger properly but I did end up with one bite of just bun left. Again, taste wise nothing popped and I would say the biggest negative would be the the effect that a slightly over toasted bun has (I call that the grilled cheese effect). That slightly over toasted bun comes into play with the texture as well as it makes the edges of the bun pretty stiff. A lot of less-green lettuce as well, causing a slight dip in taste.

Taste - 1.6 (out of 2)
Texture - 1.5 (out of 2)
Presentation - .9 (out of 1)

Fries - I have to say these might have been the worst french fries I've had at In-N-Out Burger. But this is why this new scoring systems exist, because the worst In-N-Out fries are still better than most other fast food fries. Taste wise they were actually pretty good. I added pepper but no salt. However, they had some atrocious texture. They are even more limp and "soggy" than the last visit. The only thing that could have been worse would have been completely under-cooked fries that were still frozen or cold. Somehow these weren't under-cooked, just had a really bad texture. The good taste really saved this part of the meal.

As far as interesting goes there wasn't much as we sat outside. Thought this was a dinner visit. And on the Fourth of July, which I found it odd that In-N-Out was open on as they are closed most holidays.
